Sigo en esta pausa de la torre oscura, dándole hueco a la ciencia ficción y hoy toca con tono meta satírico de mano de uno de los nombres ilustres y con el Hugo del año pasado bajo el brazo.  El que os escribe es bastante trekkie, asi que no podía dejar pasar este libro que trata uno de los pilares de la ciencia ficción televisiva. El caballo del malo siempre es mas lento, los Stormtroopers y Tie-Fighters siguen fallando tiros a bocajarro 30 años tal como puede verse en trailer de Star Wars VII y por supuesto, en Star Trek clásico, el de la camiseta roja, siempre muere en las misiones. Son pilares que sujetan el mundo de la ciencia ficción tanto como una tortuga gigante sostiene nuestro mundo sobre su caparazón.

Pero no estamos ante Star Trek, sino ante otro mundo similar y bastante parecido. Y en ese mundo y en el siglo XXV, el alférez Dahl es asignado a la Intrepid, nave insignia de la Unión Universal. Al poco de estar allí nota enseguida el alto indice de mortandad de los novatos en misiones planetarias y unas estadísticas absurdas con respecto a 5 mandos en particular que siempre salen bien librados. Es mas, nota cosas incluso mas absurdas y parece que llegado a un momento de las misiones, nada tiene sentido lógico y parece que la gente hace cosas realmente estúpidas por las que muere. Maldita sea, ni siquiera el universo es lógico y se salta las leyes de la física según conviene. Así que el alférez Dahl y sus amigos se proponen llegar al fondo de este asunto de extremo absurdo y suprema mortandad, antes de que les llegue su hora.

En fin, mucha diversión y descojone con meta ciencia ficción de la clásica televisiva y es que si algo se puede decir de este libro, es que te hace pasar un buen rato. Tiene algún pequeño bajón, pero muy esporádico en el conjunto, así que para cualquier trekkie con sentido critico, trekkers incluso o persona con sentido del humor es mas que recomendable.

  1. Buena crítica, pero me sangran los ojos. ¿Que una tortuga gigante sostiene nuestro mundo sobre su caparazón? Y yo toda la vida pensando que lo sostenían 4 elefantes… 😛

        • Por mas que miro no veo el spoiler pero te aseguro que realmente no hay ninguno sobre la trama real de la novela.
          Aun asi, tomo nota e intentaré decir aun menos en lo sucesivo.

            • Pensaba que te refería a Spoilers sobre Redshirts, no me había fijado en lo del primer libro y que era La Torre Oscura… si es así, no te preocupes que es aun menos spoiler, lo de la tortuga es solo una tontada que dice un personaje una vez, nada importante y nada real, desde luego.
